Terms of service
Last updated 10 October 2026
These terms cover VIASTERRA ("Viasterra", "we", "us"), a journaling application made and maintained independently. Purchases are sold and processed by Gumroad as the merchant of record. By using the application you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy incorporated herein.
What you are buying
A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use VIASTERRA. It is a single payment, not a subscription. There is nothing that renews and nothing to cancel.
The license is personal to you. Use it on the devices you use yourself — a phone, a tablet, a computer — and move it to a replacement whenever you need to. There is nothing to deactivate first, because nothing was activated with us to begin with. It is not for sharing with other people.
Your key carries the email address you bought with, and the application shows it in Settings. A key that has been passed on says so.
A license does not join your devices together. Viasterra has no accounts and no server, so each device keeps its own journal and they do not sync. Writing moves between them only when you save a copy on one and bring it in on the other, which the application merges rather than overwrites. If you want one journal that follows you everywhere without doing that yourself, Viasterra is not the right tool — and that is a deliberate choice, not a missing feature.
The license is checked on your own device and never contacts us, so this is a term of the agreement rather than something the application counts. We ask you to keep to it.
You may not resell, lease, reverse engineer, sublicense, or redistribute the application or your license key.
The trial
The application can be used free until both of the following milestones have passed: 60 calendar days from the first page you write, and 100 entries written. Whichever takes longer is the one that ends the trial period. No payment details are required and no account is created. When the free window closes, adding new pages requires a license key purchase.
Your existing writing is never locked. When a trial ends, everything you have already written remains readable, searchable, and exportable. We will not withhold your own words from you.
Your writing belongs to you
Everything you write in VIASTERRA is yours. We claim no ownership, copyright, no license, and no derivative right of any kind over it. We do not receive, process, or store your journal entries on external servers: all data is stored locally on your device, as described in the privacy policy.
Backups, and the limits of what we can do
Because your journal exists solely on your local device, we cannot recover or restore it for you. If your browser's local storage data is cleared, the application is removed from your home screen or device, or the device is lost, stolen, or damaged, the writing is permanently gone and no one — including us — can retrieve it.
The application provides a manual export function and periodically reminds you to use it. Maintaining local or cloud backups is strictly your responsibility, and we strongly encourage it. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any data loss, corruption, or liability to access your writing arising under these circumstances.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will make reasonable efforts to keep the application working and available, and to fix problems that are reported to us within a reasonable period, ordinarily aiming within 3–5 business days. Beyond that, the application is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant or promise that the application will be uninterrupted, free of faults, that it will run on every device or browser, or that it will remain compatible with future versions of either. Where consumer law, or your local jurisdiction, gives you rights that cannot be excluded, nothing here limits them.
Liability
To the fullest extent that the law allows, our total liability to you for any and all claims, disputes, or causes of action arising out of or relating to VIASTERRA or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for it (the license key fee). We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost writing, lost time, or lost opportunity. In no event shall Viasterra, its creator, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damage, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of goodwill, device failure, or business interruption, regardless of whether we are advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for intentional fraud, gross negligence, personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Civil Code of the Philippines or other relevant laws.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Viasterra, its author, and developer from and against any claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your breach of these terms, your unlawful use of the application, or your violation of any third-party rights.
Age
Anyone can write in Viasterra. It collects nothing about you, so there is no age below which it becomes unsafe to use — and a journal is a reasonable thing for a young person to keep.
Buying a license is different, because it is a purchase. A purchase constitutes entering into a contract. You need to be at least the legal age to enter a contract where you live, or to have a parent or guardian make the purchase for you. The free window means nobody has to buy anything to start.
Acceptable use
Use VIASTERRA for your own journaling. Do not attempt to circumvent the license, redistribute modified copies as your own product, or use the application to break the law.
Force majeure
We shall not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under these terms that is caused by events outside our reasonable control, including acts of God, telecommunication failures, cyberattacks, power outages, natural disasters, epidemics, or changes in applicable laws.
If we end the product
If VIASTERRA is ever discontinued, the copy on your device continues to work — it runs locally and does not check in with us. We would give at least 30 calendar days' prior notice on this site, and we would not issue an update that disables an application you have paid for.
Payment and refunds
Payment is taken by Gumroad as merchant of record. Their terms of service and privacy policy govern the transaction itself, including tax. We are not responsible for payment processing errors, unauthorized card transactions, or chargeback fees — those are between you and Gumroad. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Changes are not retroactive: the terms you bought under continue to apply to that purchase.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, where Viasterra is made.
In the event of any claim, dispute, or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or the application, the parties shall first attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally within thirty (30) calendar days from written notice.
Viasterra is sold worldwide. Where the consumer law of your own country gives you rights that cannot be set aside by agreement, those rights continue to apply and nothing here limits them.
