Viasterra

A quiet place for your thoughts.

A journal that lives on your device and nowhere else.

Start writing — 14 days free No account. No email. Nothing to cancel.

What it is

Somewhere to put the day down.

Write, and that is the whole interface

A date, a greeting, and a page waiting. Optional prompts if you are stuck, optional moods if you want them, and nothing at all if you don't. It saves as you type.

An archive you will actually read

Every page kept in an editorial archive you can search, filter by month or mood, and browse by calendar. Pages resurface on their anniversary, quietly, without being asked.

Reflections, not statistics

Monthly pages that show what you actually wrote about — the words that kept returning, the moods of a month, the moments you marked as milestones. No streaks, no scores, nothing to keep up with.

Photographs, kept as photographs

Add pictures to a page. They are stored full-size on your device, shown as polaroids, and stripped of their location data before they are saved.

It works with no connection

Add it to your home screen and it opens like any other app, on a plane or underground. Writing, searching and reading all happen on the device, because there is nowhere else for them to happen.

Privacy

Nobody else has a copy to read.

Most journalling apps ask you to trust them with your writing. This one cannot read it, because it never receives it. There is no account to create, no server holding your entries, and no analytics watching you use it.

What the app does with what you write

Stores it in your browser, on the device you wrote it on.
Keeps photographs on that device too, with their location data removed.
Makes a backup file when you ask for one, and hands it to you.
Never uploads a word of it, anywhere.
Never sends it to an AI, ours or anyone's.
No account, no sign-in, no email address collected.
No analytics, no tracking, no advertising.

The whole of it is explained in the privacy policy — including the one thing on the page that is not ours.

The other side of that promise: because nobody else holds your journal, nobody else can restore it. If you clear your browser's data, remove the app from your home screen, or lose the device, the writing goes with it. The app asks you to save a copy early and often, and it will remind you. Please take it up on that.

Price

Fourteen days free, then one payment.

[[PRICE]] once — not a subscription

Open it and write. After fourteen days, if you want to keep going, you pay once and it is yours. There is nothing to cancel, nothing that renews, and no tier above this one.

If you decide not to pay, your writing stays exactly where it is — readable, searchable, and exportable whenever you want it. What lapses is the ability to add new pages, not access to the pages you already wrote.

Questions

The things people ask.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email address, and no password. You open the app and start writing. That is also why there is nothing to cancel and no list to be removed from.

Where is my journal actually stored?

In your browser's own storage, on the device you wrote it on. Adding the app to your home screen is the safest way to keep it, because a home-screen app's storage is not cleared the way an unvisited website's can be.

Can I use it on my phone and my computer?

Yes, but they keep separate journals — there is no automatic syncing, because syncing would mean a server, and a server would mean a copy of your writing somewhere other than with you.

To bring two devices together, save a copy on one and bring it into the other. The app merges rather than overwrites: pages already there are left alone, and the more recently edited version of a page wins.

What happens to my writing if I stop paying?

Nothing. It is a single payment, so there is nothing to stop paying. And if you never pay at all, everything you wrote during the trial stays readable, searchable and exportable — the app will not hold your words behind a wall.

What if I lose my phone?

If you have saved a backup file, install the app on the new device and bring the backup in — the welcome screens offer to do exactly that. If you have not saved one, the writing is gone, and nobody can recover it, including us. This is the honest cost of nobody else having a copy.

Is my licence tied to one device?
